Photographer’s Bio
Derek is a professional photographer, a technology expert, and certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI). Derek’s professional work began as a computer programmer. Creating and maintaining business systems in numerous industries. As his career progressed, Derek led software development teams and managed multi-million dollar projects. Derek also spent years as both a volunteer and professional in youth and adult sports. He served as president and chairman of the board of a nonprofit organization with a $12M+ annual budget. While in this role, he worked at the state, regional, and national level to deliver value to its members.

In parallel, Derek kept photography as a core value. Endlessly working to refine his skills. Derek’s first job in photography was as a senior in high school. Working as a film developer in a photo lab, he developed hundreds of rolls of customer’s film. This was an excellent training ground as he learned the chemical processes required to develop film with quality first.
Over the years, Derek photographed thousands of pictures of subjects ranging from landscapes to personal portraiture. In 2010, Derek moved to the digital platform using the Nikon cameras. Digital photography allows for faster turnaround of photographic work. The chemical process is now completely driven by software. The camera’s firmware and specialized software on the personal computer are fully capable of doing anything previously done in the photo lab. Essentially, the photo lab is in the camera and the personal computer.
Derek takes a personal approach with each customer’s project. Drawing on years of business and photography experience, he organizes each unique project into a set of work items and customer deliverables. Customer satisfaction is priority #1. No job is done until the customer is happy.
