My name is Derek Barraza. My lifelong interests include history, science & technology, and building community. Photography has a way of combining all of these and more. Through the science of photography, we can speed up, slow down, or of course, freeze time. Photographic technology is rapidly evolving. Today’s cameras can capture dozens of frames per second! In addition, increased sensitivity to light allows us to look upwards and reach back light-years in time. So light-sensitive, we are able to capture photos in nearly total darkness. Through the art of photography, we capture and preserve moments in time revealing the beauty in people and in all things. We preserve history for the purpose of storytelling. The photos (and videos) tell a story, our story. Our story is at the heart of our community. The community we know and love. The community that binds all of us together.
